Will Miss Universe Philippines 2013 - Ariella Arida Follow the steps of Miss Word 2013 - Megan Young?

Ariella on the ramp

When Miss Philippines Ariella Arida arrived in Moscow, one of her most important objectives is to befriend as many delegates as possible regardless of the language barrier for most. For example, she doesn’t speak Spanish, but that did not stop her from hanging out with the Latinas. The picture above (taken during the Welcome Dinner) shows her becoming more at ease in the company of Cindy Mejia, Patricia Rodriguez, Fabiana Granados (who was here in Manila for ME2012) and Alba Delgado.

We all remember Miss Lebanon Karen Ghrawi as the Miss World 2013 delegate who almost didn’t make it to the first events in Bali owing to a very late crowning as her country’s national winner. While she may have created a bit of ripples at the onset, there’s no denying that she never really got off to a steady rise in the competition won by our very own Megan Young.

This time around, she is in Moscow for Miss Universe 2013. And she wasn’t late for registration and fittings. But will history repeat itself for this pretty Lebanese should another Filipina – in the person of Ariella Arida – win the Diamond Nexus Lab crown? That would be some sort of a personal blow twice in a row.

Both Miss Philippines Ariella Arida and Miss India Manasi Moghe are looking at winning their respective country’s 3rd Miss Universe crown. And it doesn’t seem like an impossibility for either.

For one, Manasi is a far better contender than the last. And she is not letting up in her efforts to make India proud of her achievements. As for Ariella, our girl is steadily climbing the popularity charts and is now a staple inclusion in many armchair judges’ list of beauties to watch for.

Together with the other candidates, Ariella and Manasi were able to tour Moscow’s Red Square and Bolshoi Theater, their first official visit around the Russian capital’s famous sights.
